About Terri Johansson
Johansson’s love of nature, biking, fishing, kayaking, camping, scuba diving and travel serve as inspiration for her art. She lives on the Intracoastal waterway in St. Augustine, Florida, and a cabin in the woods of western North Carolina, keeping her in touch with nature. “When I view nature, I see scenes in glass.”
“Having a passion for art all my life, I've released that passion through oil, acrylic and watercolor painting, as well as sculpture. All of which have influenced my glass art. Drawing was my first outlet, and I sold my first painting at age 11.”
She is drawn to the way glass has a fluid quality and how light just pours through it. She uses texture to create depth and even movement in her work. “Primarily self taught, I continually research to learn and tweak my process. My art glass panels are kilnfired anywhere from 3 to 22 times to achieve depth and detail. I am drawn to the way glass has a fluid quality and how light just pours through it. I use texture to create depth and even movement in my work. The possibilities in glass are endless.”
Johansson has pieces in private collections throughout the US, Canada, Sweden, Exumas, USVI and Australia.
