About Mary Hoffman
Mary Hoffman was drawing and painting at three-years-old. Her artistic skills developed over the years, and she became known for her portraits. Commissions helped finance her education at the Cleveland Institute of Art.
For 20 years, CEO's, universities and collectors all over the world have commissioned Mary for her elegant black and white pencil or charcoal drawings, her full-color pencil portraits and her lush oil paintings.
Her portrait clients include actress/model Andie MacDowell, NHL hockey legend Mark Messier and The University of Dayton (OH).
Hoffman taught life drawing, portrait painting and basic drawing in Hilton Head Island and at The Gibbes Museum of Art's Gibbs Studio in Charleston, SC.
Hoffman expanded her repertoire when mural commissions came in from Charleston business, churches and private homes and then, in 2005 her first Plein Air workshop breathed new life into her art. She joined the intimate Plein Air painting group The Sullivan's Island Plein Air Painters.
She is one of the founding members of The Charleston Art Collective and she displays her work on her blog at: http://maryspaintingaday.blogspot.com.
